Details of talks given by Jim Donahue
I am the author and photographer of a book about the Thames Valley, released in December 2024, that I believe many organisations across England would enjoy. I have been giving talks about the book to a variety of organisations in the Thames Valley from Windsor to Oxford over the past year that have been very well-received. Recent talks have included the Henley Literary Festival, U3A clubs in the Goring Gap and Bourne End and a number of local libraries. Several more talks are planned through 2026, including the Cookham Festival and The Gap Festival in GOring and Streatley.
The book’s title is The Thames Valley: Past, Present and Future – A Snapshot of English Life. You can read a summary of it on my publisher’s web-site here: https://halsgrove.com/product?id=0193ab8929077ea2ba8cef5fc54d0f35
As an American living in England for over 25 years, I share my perspective on many of the wonderful things that make England a special place to live. The book includes fascinating stories on the important role that the Thames Valley has played in the history of England as well and snapshots of the vibrant community life that can be found across the region. I have also worked as a local councillor in Oxfordshire for over 10 years and share my experience working with local issues that will continue to shape the region into the future.
It is a visual book featuring my award winning photographs. I share many of these images as part of my talks that normally lasts from 45 minutes to an hour, but can be tailored to your needs.
You may have seen recent feature articles about the book in Round & About magazine and the River Thames Society magazine - Thames Guardian.
