Details of talks given by Stephanie Percival
My writing journey began in 2004, when I was shortlisted for the BBC End of Story Competition. At the time I was working as an NHS podiatrist. My brief appearance on TV for the competition was the catalyst for developing my writing.
In 2011, I self-published a novel, ‘The Memory of Wood.’ This is a psychological mystery, set in my home county of Northamptonshire and following this another novel and novella followed, published by a small independent publishing company.
I joined a creative writing group which met at Northampton Museum where we wrote about the objects and exhibitions there. This was a great source of material, and great fun too.
My writing explores different genres and themes. I enjoy experimenting with different styles. I’ve been published in anthologies and on-line. Have been short and long-listed many times. Occasionally, I’ve won! Last year, I published a collection of these stories, called ‘How to Catch and Keep a Kiss.’
Recently, I've been speaking to local groups about my writing journey.
