Dr Veronica Broomes helps leaders, policy makers and their senior teams to unlock benefits and future-proof their business through strategic embedding of sustainability for brand value, cost savings, innovation and process efficiencies.
As a business founder, sustainability expert, and advocate for responsible business practices, Veronica is also Operations Director of a company specialising in serviced accommodation.
With over 20 years of experience across multiple sectors in the UK and internationally, Dr. Broomes has worked extensively in sustainability, business strategy, and capacity building. She founded the Sustainability Support Service to help businesses develop carbon reduction plans, implement sustainable practices, and enhance competitiveness. Through an innovative online Sustainability Audit portal, her company provides tailored action plans and roadmaps to support businesses in meeting sustainability goals. In 2024, she launched an online Sustainability Summit for SMEs to further promote best practices.
An early advocate of creating 'Triple Wins' for policymakers, business and communities through strategic approaches to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), her book published in 2014 drew on her academic and practitioner experience in conducting environmental and social impact assessments.
Her academic qualifications include a PhD in Plant Science from the University of Sheffield and an LLM in Law (The Open University).
In addition to her leadership and business roles, Dr Broomes is a member of the Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (formerly IEMA), the UK’s Federation of Small Businesses and hosts the Sheffield’s Hidden Gems podcast, showcasing inspiring local entrepreneurs and place-based change-makers.
