Biography:

I am a 59 year old woman who spent many years working as a Paramedic for London Ambulance Service.

I eventually went on to work in Police Custody as a Medic, and this is where I currently remain.

My role is to manage the welfare and medical treatment of detainees - medicate for ongoing ailments as well as drug and alcohol withdrawal. We take forensic samples for male sexual offenders and blood samples for drug and alcohol driving offences. We also take blood samples in suspected cases of serious offences such a murder.

I lived a very colourful, somewhat intense, and often traumatic life from early childhood. I found that my life experience became an integral and incredibly important tool in order to apply the skills and psychological principles required to have a successful and fulfilling career.

I am currently working on a book describing my life and the positive impact it has had on my work. I have called it “Emergence”. It focuses on the incredible power of empathy and compassion and how the phenomenon of kindness and understanding can break down barriers and boundaries.

I love to share my experiences and, hopefully, give hope, open eyes and souls and give the listener inspiration and insight into the joy of overcoming adversity and using it to connect to others.
