Details of talks given by Sarah Lloyd-Winder
Performance Storyteller and explorer of stuff. Wearer of hats and traveller in time. Searcher of the Ferocious Fairies and Wanton Witches of ancient Folklore.
I am a professional storyteller who seeks out tales from around the world to tell at a variety of venues and situations. From the Folktales of the woods and moors of Great Britain, to the beautiful Myths and Folklore of the world. These are stories of beauty, horror, comedy and the way people act.
I originally trained as a dancer and had a contemporary dance company. This then led to devising children’s-based dance theatre shows. These toured festivals, arts centres schools and other venues. I also worked on projects with refugees, special need’s adults and children, and in centres with at risk children. This developed into some part time teaching in further education. I completed a PGCE and went on to complete an MA in Media, Culture and Communication focusing on digital storytelling. This brought me full circle back to performance.
Susie, Bp Stortford Library Thank you so much for bringing your stories to the library today and transporting us to a magical world of fairytale and fable – and highwaymen!
Teresa Damen, Baldock Library You recounted some wonderfully entertaining tales and kept us all enthralled, so much so that it was lunchtime before we knew it. I have already had some lovely complements back from the audience. Please keep up your wonderful tradition of storytelling. It is particularly good to hear local myths, legends and histories.
