Details of talks given by David Barker
I worked for the Bank of England during the 1990s and then spent 20 years as chief economist at a major international fund. During that time I was heavily involved in research into commodity markets and predicting which way political events such as Brexit and Trump's first campaign might go.
I am also a published author of 3 climate-fiction thrillers (The Gold Trilogy, Bloodhound Books), 1 children's adventure story (Pax & The Missing Head, Tiny Tree) and 2 pantomime scripts (published on The Lazy Bee website). I studied writing at the Faber Academy in 2014. I am a member of the Society of Authors and the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators.
"Thank you so much for your talk to our Probus group earlier today. Your talk was beautifully illustrated and excellently presented. You went into a great deal of detail which held the group's attention. The talk was well received, indicated by the number of follow up questions that were given a full and considered response. The feedback I received at the lunch following your talk was all very positive."
"thank you for your most interesting and informative talk today. Not an easy topic to bring down to 'our level' and I thought you did a great job! In my chats to members after lunch, I know they all thoroughly enjoyed it and learned a lot!"
