🕰️ Steve in the 1960s — The Harbour Years Early 60s — Percy & the Quayside The decade opened with Steve still a boy, down by Sutton Harbour and the Barbican every spare minute — nets, ropes, boats, and Percy the crab still his closest companion. He'd race down to the water before school, checking the pots, helping Dad and the uncles mend twine, learning which tides brought the best catch. Plymouth was a busy, working port then — boats bobbing, seagulls crying, fish market shouting from dawn.

I’m Stephen Beer, an award-winning podcaster and radio host based in Devon, dedicating my work to meeting people at life’s crossroads—where trauma, mental health, faith, relationships, and hope intersect. My space is inclusive, unhurried, and honest: no performative positivity, just real stories, real grace, and real connection.
Crossroads began as a conversation and has grown into a community—through in-depth interviews, daily Breakfast & Coffee segments, seasonal projects, and practical outreach across our local area. I believe the most powerful healing happens when we share our stories openly, listen deeply, and walk alongside one another—whether that’s in a studio, at a live event, or putting hope into action through local housing advocacy and Christmas Hope Box initiatives.
We don’t just talk about change; we build it together, one honest conversation at a time.
