Miyuki is a distinguished Japanese cultural specialist, floral artist and NAFAS-trained public speaker, bringing together a unique blend of Japanese heritage, academic expertise and extensive teaching experience.
A native of Japan, Miyuki has lived in the UK since 1997. She holds a PhD from the University of Southampton and was a university lecturer for over a decade, specialising in human factors, ergonomics and psychophysics. Her passion for Japanese culture encompasses Ikebana, Origami, Calligraphy, Kabuki and Japanese gardens.
Miyuki is a 3rd Master of the Ohara School of Ikebana and President of the Ohara School of Ikebana England Chapter. She is an experienced speaker and demonstrator, presenting Japanese culture and traditional arts to diverse audiences in an engaging and accessible way.
She founded the Southampton University Japanese Society in 2001 and, as Chair for 14 years, led a community of over 100 students and staff. She continues to inspire audiences through talks, demonstrations, workshops and school visits, bringing the richness of Japanese culture to life.
