Thomas Cook, a Baptist minister, decided to arrange rail excursion from Leicester to Loughborough to boost attendances to his temperance meetings. Soon he was becoming a travel agent with trips to Europe and eventually the United States. This story follows what happened next as tourism boomed. This presentation looks at the contributions made by entrepreneurs like Billy Butlin, Fred Pontin and Freddie Laker when travel took to the skies and became Package Holidays.
