Every day, thousands of children and young people take on caring responsibilities for a family member, often balancing school, friendships, and their own wellbeing alongside their role as a carer. This talk explores what it means to be a young carer, the challenges they face, why many remain hidden, and how communities can better recognise and support them.
Through real-life stories and insight from MYTIME Young Carers’ work, audiences will gain a greater understanding of young carers and the difference that awareness, compassion, and early support can make.

We believe that no child’s destiny should be defined by their beginning, and we work to ensure that every young carer is recognised, supported, and given the opportunity to thrive.
Young carers take on significant responsibilities at home, often caring for a family member with a disability, illness, mental health condition, or substance misuse issue. Many young carers go unrecognised and unsupported, which can have a huge impact on their education, wellbeing, relationships, and future opportunities.
Through our programmes, including support, wellbeing activities, life skills development, employability support, and opportunities to connect with other young carers, MYTIME helps young people feel seen, valued, and empowered.
Our talks aim to raise awareness of young carers, share the realities of their experiences, highlight the importance of early identification and support, and inspire individuals, schools, and organisations to play a role in creating a more supportive community for young carers.
