I’ve been lucky to enter farming after working on my family’s smallholding, later managing up to 500 milking cows on large farms with the same care and respect for animals and the land as I had from the start. In my talks, I share how a tragic event led me back to farming in harmony with nature, using the lessons the soil teaches us to guide management through observation and analysis. Recently, I’ve worked with Barbers Cheese on carbon footprinting farms, while also helping my clients adopt better farming practices that cut costs. I also cover topics like soil, compost, and soil husbandry, which are just as relevant to gardening clubs.

My passion for farming began on my family’s smallholding, and after agricultural college I ran a pig farm while also lambing and relief milking. I went on to milk on Salisbury Plain and eventually managed 500 dairy cows in Dorset and Hampshire. Later, I farmed in the Cotswolds on a mixed organic farm, bringing the fun back into farming. More recently, I’ve been working with Barbers Cheese, helping to carbon footprint their supplying farmers as part of their Nature Positive initiative, making farming even more environmentally friendly.
