Do you know, Hampshire County Council has been supporting farming and industry improvements for 130 years? From travelling magic lantern lectures to a residential farm school, and from land to ease unemployment to currently helping people get a foot on the farm ladder with 30+ tenant farms. This talk sheds light on a point in the past when aspirations for people in a rural county led to council innovations that are still providing outcomes for residents today.

This is a short history of Hampshire’s Farm School, the creation of council farms, and more.

About Ruth B Kerr

I spent over 20 years working full-time in the museums & heritage sector before becoming freelance.

I now have a portfolio career, working mainly freelance delivering engagement, learning, and digital communications across several sectors. My clients are museums and more, so I use Museums and More as the name for my work.

I have 4 illustrated talks available - please scroll down to read about them. I can bring a projector if your venue doesn't have one, and project onto a wall if you don't have a screen.

I’m based in Hampshire and can also work from the Scottish Borders. Please note due to travel costs, I’m unlikely to be able to travel for more than an hour from Romsey or Winchester in Hampshire, or Galashiels in the Scottish Borders.
