In 1962 the researchers Watson and Crick were awarded the Nobel prize
" for their discoveries concerning the molecular structure of nucleic acids and its significance for information transfer in living material"
In this illustrated talk we will discuss what is information and how can we know that the genetic code is in fact a code. The basic methods of information transfer within living systems.
A look at how protein chains are formed and some of the amazing components which are produced such as electric motors.
How does the genetic code operate, does it operate to preserve itself producing variation within the kind of animal or plant or does it operate to produce new kinds of animals from existing kinds as evolutionary theory suggests ? What is the difference between natural selection and artificial selection ?
Can we address some questions with this knowlege such as when does life begin and what is the role of vacccines in genetics ?
This is not a primer for an academic course of study. It is intended to be accesible to the ordinary person to gain a working understanding of the subject.
