A talk about the highs and lows of being a film and TV extra, the grit and the “glamour”!
35 years ago I completed a Theatre Studies degree and briefly ran a theatre in education company. But grinding poverty meant I had to get a proper job, so I retrained as an English and Drama Teacher, a career that took me to retirement. Now retired, I am vicariously living out my childhood ambitions of being an actress by being a film and TV extra,,watching from the sidelines. It’s fascinating!

This was a physical, mental and unexpectedly spiritual experience that has made me reflect on my daily life in ways I hadn’t anticipated. I recently was asked to speak about my journey to a local Probus organisation, and received such positive feedback I was encouraged to join a speakers register.
My talk covers the preparation, the daily challenges, and the unexpected moments that stop you in your tracks! I look forward to sharing my experiences with you soon, and perhaps inspiring the next pilgrims to walk this way!
