OPERATION MINCEMEAT was a World War Two deception plan designed to mask the planned allied attacks in Sicily. The Top Secret plan has been the subject of several books, two films and event a West End Comedy Musical, not all of which are historically accurate!

There still remains controversy over the full details of the Operation. This talk will outline the operation and discuss some of these controversies that continue today.

About Graeme MacPherson

ABOUT ME: I’m an accredited member of the International Guild of Battlefield Guides and also a volunteer with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. With over 37 years of military experience, both full-time and part-time, I’ve had the privilege of serving in a variety of roles including: Garrison Commander, Assessor at the Army Officer Selection Board and Commanding Officer of a Reserve Regiment.

WHAT I DO: When I’m not leading battlefield tours, history walks, or conducting research, I share my knowledge and passion for history with groups and organisations across Sussex, Surrey, and Kent. While many of my talks focus on military history, I’ve found that many of my subjects are appealing to a wide audience.

WHAT I OFFER. I prefer to deliver my presentations in person but am also able to facilitate online presentations. Each presentation lasts between 45 mins and 1 hr. All can be tailored to the needs of your group. I require a suitable screen or wall to projrect onto.
