Photographs fill our lives now, our senses overloaded with images snapped from our phones. But what is it like to spend two months voyaging under sail, travelling to new places, with only a sketchbook and paintbox to record all these new impressions? And why on earth does a 60-something, far from intrepid, woman decide that sailing from Galapagos to Falklands via Cape Horn the best way to find out?
Views: 15 | Enquiries: 0I am an illustrator, author, tutor and speaker with a passion for all things maritime. I spend as much time as possible travelling, preferably by sea, with sketchbook and watercolours.
In recent years I have sketched my way across the oceans – from Galapagos to Falklands via Cape Horn under sail, to Antarctica as Friends of Scott Polar Research Institute Artist in Residence, to Spitzbergen leading a sketching voyage under sail, and across the Pacific as ship’s art tutor.
I'm an experienced speaker and have given talks, workshops and demonstrations to a wide variety of organisations including Royal Institute of Navigation, Cruising Association and Royal Yacht Squadron.
I live afloat on the River Deben in Suffolk and I'm always on the lookout for more maritime adventures!
