This is often the first talk that we give to groups and is intended to be a lot of fun.
In this talk we describe why we gave up successful careers to try modern Self Sufficiency. It's full of anecdotes and not a few disasters that we encountered along the way.

We are Hugh and Fiona - the modern “Tom and Barbara” and live “The Good Life” in Lincolnshire.
We grow our own fruit and vegetables, rear chickens, cook on wood and even making our own soap!
We are passionate about self-sufficiency and offer a range of light-hearted and engaging talks on the subject including an introduction to the topic with a little bit of everything and more in depth talks on subjects such as gardening, chicken keeping and food preserving – but always with the emphasis on fun!
To help spread the word on self-sufficiency, we write regular columns for magazines such as Country Smallholder and Practical Poultry and have a strong online presence including;

We put great energy into delivering talks in an engaging and entertaining way. We love to bring along fascinating plants, interesting equipment and even unusual foods for people to experience. We are conversational in our style, bringing our audiences along with us with excellent feedback from our previous engagements. As we have built a name digitally, we can both deliver talks in person using our own equipment, or virtually using Google Meets
