This is a presentation regarding the life and influence of Queen Eleanor of Castile, her links to Northampton, the surrounding county and a number of other towns around the country.
The talk examines her impact on many of the things that we take for granted in our everyday lives and her success as an independent business woman in the 13th Century. In many ways she was one of the first feminists. We look at her relationship and marriage to Edward 1st and their apparent devotion to each other and the likely cause of her death in Harby, Lincolnshire
The presentation ends with an account of when Andy & his wife took part in a charity bike ride which followed the route of the Queen Eleanor crosses erected in her memory by her husband Edward Ist from Harby to Westminster Abbey. On route they visited each of the cross sites, at which only three original crosses remain
Views: 314 | Enquiries: 1I was a police officer in Northamptonshire for 30 years, rising from the rank of Police Constable to Detective Chief Inspector and was an accredited Senior Investigating Officer, licensed by the Home Office to investigate the most serious of offences.
During my five or more years as part of the Homicide and Major Crime Team these skills were in constant use. Later, as the deputy head of the the Professional Standards department (the real life 'Line of Duty'), I was able to use these skills again.

I have been delivering my presentations for many years or more to a wide range of groups such as the WI, Rotary Clubs, local history societies, Probus and many other social groups. I get many repeat bookings from groups which suggests that they enjoy my talks.
All of my talks are delivered by way of Powerpoint and I have all of my own equipment to do so. Many of the talks are supported by documents and photographs for your audience to examine.
