Alan Clements, Chairman of the Japanese Garden Society (Midlands) describes the development of Cascades Gardens, Derbyshire, www.cascadesgardens.com. In more recent years. Influenced by Japanese Gardens he has seen in Japan and Buddhist philosophy the more recent development of a Japanese water garden, a Buddhist-garden, the latest Japanese Tea Garden and a dry Karesansui rock garden are explained. Japanese garden principles are discussed and also the basic philosophy behind Zen meditation the inspiration for all Zen gardens. Cascades Gardens is now becoming quite well known as a meditation and Bonsai centre and one of Derbyshire’s Japanese gardens. Some of the media coverage of the garden is shown.
