Writers are readers. I have read my entire life and inevitably the sort of books I read influence the sort of books I write. This talk explores some of the authors and poets that have made an impact on me and shaped the sort of writer I have become - as well as considering the important role that writing can play in all our lives.

Initially, I wrote short stories for the commercial magazine market and was extensively published both in the UK and internationally. I now write novels and have published three with a fourth coming out in late 2023. I am now embarking on research for my fifth novel.
I also tutor creative writing, run workshops and teach groups and individuals both online and in person. I am passionate about sharing my experiences of writing and my approach to creativity as well as teaching structured courses in writing. I am happy to share my experiences of being an independent author and am proud to be an Author Ambassador for Troubador Books. I love speaking to guilds, groups and audiences at festivals. and am a confident and enthusiastic speaker.
I also have a background in English Literature and drama teaching and particularly enjoy leading classes and speaking to adult education groups. In the past year, I have spoken to groups on the following topics: Writing for Magazines, Routes into Publication, How to Write a Novel, My Literary Influences.
