Steve Barclay’s talk COMEDY HEROES tells the story of some of the best loved comedians and entertainers. During his highly informative talk he recalls the famous variety comedians KEN DODD, TOMMY COOPER, MAX WALL, GEORGE FORMBY, LES DAWSON, RONNIE BARKER, ERIC MORCAMBE. Comediennes HYLDA BAKER, TESSIE O’SHEA are remembered beside many of the not so famous but notable comedy stars of an age of Empires, Grands and Palaces. STEVE BARCLAY having spent many years treading the boards as a supporting comedian to many top TV and theatre celebrities shows his obvious enthusiasm for this subject, you can almost feel the red velvet of the seats and smell the orange peel! Steve has enjoyed playing theatres nationwide with many of the top stars of show business including Danny La Rue OBE, Sir Norman Wisdom Rick Wakeman CBE - and many others, too many to list.. He has enjoyed playing the Swansea Grand, Bristol Hippodrome, Leeds City Varieties, and even the World-famous London Palladium. Steve has cruised the world entertaining passengers on the ocean wave. Delighting the cabaret audiences with his brand of stand-up comedy, zany impressions, and music, plus some mean ukulele playing! Steve played his first pantomime dame at the Derngate Theatre. Since then, Steve has never stopped playing dame, and has enjoyed playing the Theatre Royal Hanley and HFC Truro where Steve’s Dame stopped the show! Steve played Dame Widow Twankey at the Garrick Theatre Lichfield to tremendous success with Jimmy Cricket as Wishee Washy. More recently Steve played various Dames for seven consecutive seasons at Lincoln's Theatre Royal with comedy legends Cannon and Ball. Steve is a member of the world famous Chelsea Masonic Entertainers Lodge. In 2021 Steve wrote his biography UNKNOWN TO MILLIONS with a foreword by Rick Wakeman CBE and an afterword by Freddie (Mr Parrot Face) Davies.
