This talk introduces the listener to the principles of a low-carb diet and explains in basic scientific terms why it works for improved weight loss and general health. We start by looking at why obesity has become such a problem and move onto explaining how our bodies control our weight and what goes wrong in obesity. We then look at how a low-carb diet can help to correct these problems, allowing the weight to come off without feeling hungry. Finally we review some evidence to show that this way of eating actually works for most people!
