There are many everyday plants in our gardens that can be use for life's little emergencies. From cuts and grazes to an upset tummy. Learning about our enviroment and making our own medicines is empowering, easy and fun. We also have the added advantage of knowing exactly what ingredients we are using.
In this day and age it is important we reduce our carbon footprint and impact on the world, and by making our own simple salves and medicines we can do just that.
This talk covers the uses and benefits of some very common garden plants and weeds, and how they can be made into teas, creams and ointments.
Please note I am only available for evenings and weekend talks in the Bristol area. I am a qualified medical herbalist and wellbeing practitioner. I love plants, particularly wild, hedgerow and common ones, often described as weeds. I have been foraging for 30 years, and use wild plants in my everyday diet, as well as using them to make medicines for my herbal practice. I work with nature connection and have witnessed first hand how time spent outdoors improves our wellbeing, and am keen to connect people to themselves, each other and nature. I also have a wider interest in the landscape including permaculture, folklore, social history and archaeology. This gives me a deeper understanding of our relationship with plants in the past, and how our relationship with them might develop in the future. I am interested in the emerging science of plant consciousness, how we are discovering that plants are as communicative, social (or anti-social!) as animals. We are only beginning to understand this fascinating world.
