A digitally Illustrated Talk with my own recordings of Bird Songs ,Sonograms and new music. Illustrations showing how a bird sings, with latest scientific research on the state of our British songbirds: ie, can feeding birds in our gardens make a difference to how they sing? Just why does a small bird (Marsh Warbler) ’collect’ up to 250 other bird songs and calls on its migratory path from Africa to Northern Europe? How can a tiny bird like our Wren sing 25 notes a second. What is happening inside a bird’s brain when it sings.Why does the Dawn Chorus have such an emotional and calming effect on some Humans? How birds have inspired Composers, Poets ,Writers and Artists for thousands of years. What did Mozart learn from his pet Starling. Can include tips on how to identify birdsong in your garden and parks.

I am a singer/guitarist and Sound Artist.My two Talks are entertaining, engaging and readily accessible to everyone. I like to engage with my audience whether live or on Zoom. MILTON KEYNES to MISSISSIPPI is my personal, exciting musical journey which began in a small village, then to London and America. In this talk I play different styles of guitar, songs I wrote for BBC TV and Radio, anecdotes of my life on the road playing support to many folk and Rock bands around UK and Europe.Recorded at Abbey Road Studios and recorded nine albums. I learnt to Blues guitar in Mississippi cotton fields with Black blues musicians.
I was Sound Artist in residence at a Nature Reserve in East Sussex for a year. and heard a Robin singing in answer to my guitar playing! WHEN BIRDS SING is a Digital presentation on Why,How and When Birds sing.The birds we hear in our gardens and when we go walking in woods and parks.How Birdsong is being used in health and well being.I use my own Bird song recordings /photos and new music written specially to go with bird song.Up to date research on Birds in UK.
