This public talk is a true story of love, honour, bravery and tragedy, taken from my Mother's 1941 diary when she was just eighteen years old and covers the months after my Uncle's Wellington Bomber went missing on a bombing raid to Dusseldorf. I have researched the RAF historical sites for both my Uncle and my Father. I have their training records, my Uncle's last flight plan and other relevant documents, but really the diary entries and what happened in that year to the family are of great interest and I think most unusual. Whenever I give my talk, I am always told stories afterwards of courage and bravery, whether the audience lived through or like me never knew a wartime situation. The story is a very personal one and should be told about these three very brave young people.
