Biography:

Su Morgan is a textile graduate and director of the award‑winning Tadcrafters Community Interest Company, a not‑for‑profit organisation run by volunteers dedicated to repurposing surplus textiles into items donated to charities and other worthy causes.

Founded in 2016 in the aftermath of severe flooding and the collapse of Tadcaster’s bridge, Tadcrafters CIC was created to help build community cohesion and bring people together through creativity and purpose. Today, Su leads a thriving volunteer network that produces around 3,000 handmade items each year from surplus fabric, yarn, wood and other materials that might otherwise be sent to landfill or incineration.

Under Su’s direction, Tadcrafters blends creative inspiration, environmental responsibility and community wellbeing, transforming waste into warmth, comfort and practical support for organisations across North Yorkshire and beyond. The group works in partnership with initiatives such as Sustainable Tadcaster, tackling the economic, social and environmental impacts of climate change, and The Tadcaster Creates Arts Festival, which aims to establish a vibrant creative hub in the town.

Su’s work champions the circular economy, community resilience and the power of making, proving that small actions, stitched together, can create lasting change.
