Details of talks given by Glyn Moore
Glyn's first memory of The Beatles is watching them perform at The Cavern on a TV news programme (I think ITV) around 1962 or 3.
"It felt like the energy, the music, the lyrics were directed straight at me. My parents just didn’t get it. It was my world and the world of my generation as we twisted and shouted to what seemed like a never ending stream of Beatles hits.”
And so begun my life long love affair with Beatles songs and in particular what are for me their magical lyrics.
I started a journey to understand the stories behind the songs. From studying the story of the Beatles themselves to visiting places associated with the Fab Four I slowly built up a fascinating and absorbing insight into the real-life events behind the lyrics.
From the early days of catchy pop to the experimental brilliance of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and beyond, Glyn has uncovered the misconceptions and myths, the tensions between Lennon and McCartney, the studio innovations that re-shaped modern music, all underpinned by massive cultural cultural shifts and the and social influences of the 1960s . .
