Details of talks given by Paul Mayne
I am a Chartered Surveyor who discovered The Beatles in 1985, around the time of my 18th birthday, and my life was changed forever!
Whilst studying for my degree (in Liverpool, where else?) I also read every Beatles book I could get my hands on and, by chance, came upon an article which fascinated me - apparently Paul McCartney (my favourite Beatle) had died in 1966 and had been replaced by a lookalike! Sounds like total nonsense, doesn't it? Well just you wait and see!!
I spent several years researching the details and compiling all the evidence and clues and always loved sharing this amazing story (albums and record player at the ready) with anyone who cared to listen! They never failed to be entertained!
My big chance came in 1995 when the guest speaker at our forthcoming Round Table meeting let us down at late notice and I offered to stand in with the debut of my new 'McCartney' talk. It was very well received and word spread quickly. I subsequently received many requests to be the after-dinner speaker at various Round Table, Rotary, Ladies Circle, Tangent meetings and other events. The rest, as they say, is history as here I am, 30 years later, still taking Paul on the road with me via a full, multi-media audio and visual presentation.
You'll roll your eyes. You'll laugh. You'll frown. You'll scratch your head. You'll think. You'll be amazed. You'll be listening to your Beatles albums and looking at the covers when you get home. You'll be telling others about it. And who knows - you might just believe......
