I’m an amateur historian with a long-standing fascination for the English Civil War, a passion that led me onto the battlefield itself as a member of the Sealed Knot, bringing history to life through re-enactment. Over the years I’ve known what it feels like to be charged by a troop of horse and even to be wounded by a sword all, thankfully, in the name of authenticity rather than hostility. I live just outside Maidstone with my wife and our formidable Newfoundland dog, who seems determined to uphold his own royalist cause.
