Details of talks given by Ken Arthur
I have recently been appointed as BTO Ambassador for Garden BirdWatch for County Down in Northern Ireland and am based in North Down. In the absence of an ambassador for County Antrim, (currently)I am also willing to visit in the Greater Belfast and South Antrim area (possibly farther afield for special events elsewhere in N.I with sufficient notice). Garden BirdWatch is a "citizen science" project which gathers information about not only birds, but also small mammals, invertebrates, amphibians and other wildlife that visit gardens. Garden BirdWatch takes place all year round, across the UK, but is under represented in Northern Ireland and I would like to encourage more people to join. Skills required are ability to recognise the common birds that regularly visit your garden, and time commitment is up to you, starting from 15 minutes PER WEEK, so it is not particularly onerous but can be very fulfilling. Training and support in many aspects of watching birds can be arranged. For more info, please contact SpeakerNet, or BTO (www.bto.irg)
