Details of talks given by john king
I am a retired doctor, scientific researcher, writer and broadcaster.
I qualified in chemistry and later in medicine at the University of Leeds, and did my postgraduate training in London
I was for 25 years an NHS consultant in psychological medicine in the west midlands, with research and publications on anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder.
I was part of Warwick University's Olfaction Research Group, developing specialised fragrances evocative of natural environments such as the seashore, to help people relax and combat anxiety. This proved a popular subject, and I contributed to a series of broadcasts including Radio 4's "Medicine Now" and the BBC's "Tomorrow's World". Currently I hold an honorary research fellowship at Warwick Medical School.
I am a member of the British Society of Perfumers with interests both in new aromatic materials and the reconstruction of the lost perfumes of yesteryear. I have many perfume reviews and articles published.
