Details of talks given by David Gerard Poppitt
I was born in South Wales just after Second World War and moved to the North-West of England at 9 years of age. I attended Bolton School and Manchester University Medical School. I worked at Christie Hospital in Manchester for 25 years as a Senior Medical Research Officer where, later on, I also developed an interest in Cancer Education. This led to my setting up the Christie Charity and a large range of fundraising experiences. My talks can either focus on our knowledge of the history and development of Cancer and treatment at the Christie or concentrate on income generation techniques that saw the Christie raise £87 million last year. I have wide experience of talking to all sorts of groups such as Round Table, Rotary, Probus, Inner Wheel and Luncheon Clubs which would appear to result in increased knowledge to the audience along with a light-hearted look at my own life.
