This is a presentation about the history and archaeology the Anglo-Saxons. We will look at early historical sources about the Anglo-Saxon period, as well as the last days of Roman Britain to get a perspective on the world in which Anglo-Saxon England began. By looking at archaeology and other evidence, we will also question whether the history of the Anglo-Saxons is as straightforward as it seems. The final section of the presentation looks at the way later history has treated the Anglo Saxons, right up to the present day.
The presentation is aimed at anyone with an interest in history and/or archaeology - there is no need at all for anyone to have prior knowledge of the topics we’ll discuss.

My name is Trevor Creighton. I offer talks on a range of archaeological and historical topics. I have presented to general interest groups, local history and archaeology groups and at universities, both around the UK and internationally.
My talks are typically accompanied by PowerPoint presentations and, in addition to speaking to live audiences, I have considerable experience with on-line presentations across a number of formats. I can also offer guided walks covering a number of topics. I always strive to pitch the way I cover the material I present to cater to the interests of my audiences, rather than a 'one size fits all' approach.
I have an MA in Archaeology and Heritage and a background in education. My talks focus on British archaeology and history and, wherever possible, I try to tailor the content to include topics, history and archaeology that is local to my audience. The topics of the presentations I offer include Prehistoric Britain, the archaeology of buildings, Roman Britian, Anglo Saxon Britain and church architecture.
I have been featured in podcasts and video features on a number of archaeological channels and have appeared on Digging for Britain and Channel 4's Ancient Secrets of Althorp with Charles Spencer. My writing has been published in British Archaeology and Current Archaeology magazines, The EXARC Journal of Experimental Archaeology, the Medieval Settlements Research Journal and the newsletters of the Prehistoric Society and Later Prehistoric Finds Group.
