I give these talks for enjoyment (mine and yours, I hope!). I've been a professional seminar presenter for many years, but now that I'm retired, I focus on my creative writing - novels and short stories, mostly based in the Lake District. Currently, my most popular talk combines themes from my recent novel, 'The Leaf Slide' with the work of singer/songwriters like Jake Thackray, Bob Dylan and Tom Paxton. I bring my guitar along and I work with a simple setup. If you'll allow me display a few of my books, I'll require a table. That apart, nothing except a chair for me and an audience which I hope might be interested in getting to know my main character, Detective Chief Inspector Max Wordsworth, 'the reluctant Lakeland detective'. In addition, I'll sing some songs to embellish the main themes of the novel. I also offer other talks and workshops that reflect my many years as a management consultant. I love the opportunity to share ideas with people. For over thirty years, this was how I made my living - working as a management consultant and presenting face to face seminars, courses, conferences and workshops, including events with hundreds of delegates.
In all, I delivered over two thousand events in more than thirty countries.
I loved working with challenging delegates from different backgrounds and cultures.

I was a founder member of the UK Professional Speakers' Association, a member of various professional organisations and, as well as other qualifications I have a master's degree in Theatre Arts.
I retired from travelling after a climbing accident, and my local talks compensate in part for the excitement I miss.
Now I write novels, short stories and plays, and I produce online business webinars for different websites. My books are available on Amazon in various formats, and I've also recorded my own work, and that of over a dozen authors, for Amazon Audible.
I enjoy playing the acoustic guitar and currently, my most popular talk is a light-hearted combination of extracts from one of my Lake District novels coupled with songs from my favourite singer/songwriters, for example, Bob Dylan, Jake Thackray and Tom Paxton..
On a more serious level, I'm happy to offer bespoke talks/workshops on a wide range of more demanding soft skills areas. One hour talks or exploratory workshops on any of these themes and more - just ask!
