The Royal Navy Submarine Service began in 1901 - an early member of the service was Commander Charles Sharp of St Tudy and the talk opens with a recording of him, aged 84, made in 1965remembering his early days. The talk starts with the early origins of submarines (in the Tudor age) and covers the development from 1580 through to the current day.
