We live in a pluralistic society, and it’s more important than ever that we are able to better understand the diversity of beliefs around us, and discover where we might find shared values. Using their life experience and knowledge, our Community Speakers can help to support a richer understanding of non-religious beliefs, values, and approaches to life.
Today over half the population identifies as non-religious. Humanists are non-religious people who believe that this life is the only life we have, that the universe is a natural phenomenon with no supernatural side, and that we can live ethical and fulfilling lives on the basis of reason and humanity. They have trusted to the scientific method, evidence, and reason to discover truths about the universe and have placed human welfare and happiness at the centre of their ethical decision making.
Views: 21 | Enquiries: 0Humanists UK community speakers are trained and experienced volunteers who visit community settings to share information and answer questions about humanism, a non-religious worldview.
Our community speakers will visit your group or organisation free of charge and can fit around your needs and requirements. We offer both in-person and virtual visits. Where we can’t find somebody local to visit in person, we will try to find someone who can visit remotely.
We offer, and have delivered talks to, scouts, guides, and youth groups; university clubs and societies; local groups and societies; University of the Third Age…and more!
