Let me take you on a tour of the vestiges of grand houses, villages, prisoner of war camps, an artillery battery, a giant limestone kiln (pictured), a cotton mill and football ground among other curious, little known ruins. I've encountered all of them during over 30 years of hiking and cycling in the county often as a freelance journalist and photographer.

Our journey takes us from the Yorkshire Dales to Bradford, Knaresborough, Calderdale, Holderness and many places in between.
