A jaunt through the very long history of human use of the hemp plant, from ancient times to the 19th century and the current revival of the growing and procesing of hemp for fine textile.

This place went on to inspire the founding, along with textile artist Kitty Wilson Brown, of Contemporary Hempery, a project to revive the growing of hemp for fine textile. The project, which began on just a brief conversation has developed into a passion for the plant (with all it's incredible properties) and to a deep fascination with the history and heritage of hemp cloth production through the centuries. Claire also owns and manages Chapel Hall Arts, a community art space based in a listed former Baptist chapel in Fressingfield, Suffolk.
