Neville Chamberlain MP the Prime Minister who tried, but failed to avoid the Second World War. He came into politics whilst over forty years of age. He attained what his father and brother failed to become. From an early age he was in the shadow of he step brother Austin, "who played the game but always lost". Neville did phenomenal good as local MP and Lord Mayor of Birmingham. Chamberlain inherited a poisoned chalice, and a legacy of bad decisions made by Sir John Simon in 1931. It is time that Chamberlain is recognised that he did his best after the die was struck by others.
