When an emergency happens, there’s no pause button.
Every day across six Midlands counties, our crews at Midlands Air Ambulance Charity are dispatched to incidents where advanced critical care is needed immediately. We operate and fund three helicopters and a fleet of critical care cars, bringing hospital-level treatment to patients long before they reach an emergency department.
Since 1991, the charity has responded to more than 80,000 missions - making us one of the busiest air ambulance services in the UK. On average, we reach patients within ten minutes. Our helicopters are based at Cosford, Strensham and Tatenhill, positioned to give the fastest possible response across the region. When the aircraft can’t fly, often due to weather, our critical care and rapid response vehicles ensure the service never stops.
Each helicopter mission costs in the region of £2,950. Every critical care car mission costs around £288. It takes over £16 million each year to keep the service operational, and we receive no direct government or National Lottery funding for our daily lifesaving missions. Quite simply, we exist because of the generosity and kindness of our communities.
My talks usually last between 15- 45 minutes and can be tailored to suit your group or organisation. There is no fee for bookings; however, as a charity that relies entirely on public generosity, donations are always gratefully received and directly support future missions.
Because while no one ever plans to need us, someone, somewhere, will tomorrow.

Working across a region that spans six Midlands counties, I represent a charity that delivers advanced pre-hospital emergency care by helicopter and critical care car -often within just ten minutes of a 999 call. Behind every mission is a highly skilled crew, specialist equipment, and a support network that keeps our service operational 365 days a year.
What makes our charity unique is that we are entirely publicly funded. It costs over £16 million annually to maintain our three aircraft and response vehicles, with each helicopter mission costing around £2,950. That means every lifesaving call-out is made possible by local people, businesses and supporters who choose to stand behind us.
Since 1991, we’ve attended tens of thousands of incidents - from cardiac arrests and road traffic collisions to serious trauma in rural and urban locations. Whether deployed from our airbases at Cosford, Strensham or Tatenhill, or responding by critical care car when helicopters are grounded, the commitment to delivering outstanding care never changes.
In my role, I have the privilege of connecting our communities with the real impact of their support. I share not only the operational facts, but the human side of what we do - the teamwork, the resilience, and the difference that charitable giving makes at the most critical moments of someone’s life.
