About Andrew Van Buren

A lifetime of performing magic, illusions and circus skills around the world, on cruise ships, television, in theatre, circus and cabaret has all provided hundreds of showbusiness based stories that weave throughout my talks, presented with projected photos, films and lots of laughs.

Alongside still performing shows I now present a number of successful and rebooked talks for all, previous ones have included Charity, Rotary, U3A, WI ,Clubs, Masons, Probus and Women's Groups.

'Philip Astley and Me' the story of Philip Astley, the Englishman who became a military hero, invented the circus and was the original Ringmaster, this talk tells the story of who Astley was, why I am interested in him and how I resurrected Astley to help regenerate his birthplace of Newcastle-under-Lyme, as a new cultural place maker.

'The Van Buren Story' tells the story of my parents Fred Van Buren and Greta, the story spans nearly 100 years of showbusiness memories from the 1930s to present day, with lots of posters, pictures and film footage. How Fred ran away to the circus, met Connie Greta, became Dutch, made motorbikes disappear and invented some of the worlds most baffling magical illusions.
