The talk covers the life, work and interesting times of the two pre-eminent and most successful English painters of the eighteenth century: Reynolds, the workaholic, and Gainsborough, who would really have preferred to be a professional musician.

In 2018 I did an online course in art history with the Art Institute and graduated with distinction.
I belong to a u3a Art Appreciation group and in 2021 started giving talks to the group, which encouraged me to give talks on British art to a wider audience.
