About Chika Norah Udezue JP

Do you know that every criminal case in England and Wales start with magistrates and 95% are concluded by them?

Hi, I am a justice of the Peace for England and Wales, for over 16 years. I am also both the Magistrates In the Community (MIC) Coordinator for Dorset and the Diversity and Community Relations Magistrate for Devon, Dorset and Cornwall. Both are aimed at:

  1. Engaging with the community: Actively reaching out to schools, universities, community groups and faith groups to educate people about the role of magistrates and the court process.

  2. Dispelling myths: Providing accurate information to challenge misconceptions about the judiciary and the justice system

  3. Encouraging Diversity: Encouraging individuals from under-represented groups to consider applying to become magistrates.

  4. Acting as conduits: Facilitating communication between the judiciary's leadership such as Regional Leadership Magistrates and local communities and individuals.

MIC is made up of seasoned presenters who are always eager to engage with you. DCRM is the same. Our presentations are free of charge.

Would your group/school like a guided tour of the Magistrate Courts in Dorset? Will shall provide magistrates who will receive you, introduce you to the court room, and sit with you while you observe magistrates at work. When possible, we take you to the holding cells and also show you the inside of a prison van. It is always an exciting and very informative day.

If you would like to know more or arrange a visit, for your school, college or community, please let me know by contacting me via Chika.udezue.jp@ejudiciary.net. We are always at your service.

Thanks you.
