The work of the Red Cross and St John Ambulance Joint War Organisation Prisoners of War Department helping Allied prisoners of war in Germany during WW2. Not only food parcels; we were sending musical instruments, sports equipment and many thousands of books - POWs were not all trying to escape, they were studying and taking exams! Also liaising with the next-of-kin who could send their POW a parcel.
