The China Threat is again on the agenda ‘Does China Pose a Threat to the UK’ is a topic in the press. With a backdrop of Spying, Cyber Attacks, and the prospect of infiltration into our Cell Phones – is the inferred danger to the UK, and Western Society credible?

Having spent 35 years in field of Cyber, employed by Government Agencies such as TSol, the Houses of Parliament and Government Contracts, and many Commercial engagements, I have observed the landscape of threats, and the consequences up close at the coal face.

So, what does history tell us - China were proven to be culpable in the Titan Rain Cyber Attacks circa 2007 – at which time they attacked UK Government, The US (Pentagon) and German Government. In fact, it was I who was the ‘first’ person to call them out in public at the British Library when giving a presentation post Titan Rain Cyber Hostilities. And, as the UK Government private records will confirm, they will be aware that when one Government Minister visited the region, there laptop was compromised with a form of intrusive malware.

When it comes to UK Critical Infrastructure was it wise to use China's China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) to be involved with the Hinkley Point C project - though now further funding halted since January 2023, yet in 2010 the Cabinet assessed China to be a Moderate Threat for Espionage, and a Severe Threat for Electronic Attack - have such threats now diminished in 2025!

Is it sensible for the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) to have a relationship with Huawei Cyber Security Evaluation Centre (HCSEC) to scrutinize Huawei's products in relation to the UK's telecom networks, whilst at the same time US sanctions in July 2020 banned the products use.

The question is, is the UK is sleepwalking into selling security out to what is already known to be a Global Threat Actor.

He answers lie within.
