Carran Waterfield reads and sings from her BookFest Bronze Award-winning literary historical fantasy, Pink Granite, and shares the story behind its making.
Moving between personal story, family-history research and performance, she explores how myth, memory and lived experience found their way into fiction, drawing on her years in theatre and her creative relationship with walking and place.
This is a relaxed author conversation, with space for questions and discussion throughout. It offers a chance to encounter the book through the voice of its writer and discover something of the creative journey behind it.

She enjoys informal, responsive encounters, with room for questions and discussion throughout.
Carran founded and was Artistic Director of Triangle Theatre Coventry from 1988–2016. Her extensive experience of touring performance, teaching and community work informs how she shares her writing and works with groups.

Talks and conversations can explore:
The creative journey from theatre and storytelling to writing books.
Pink Granite: family history, memory and imagination becoming fiction.
Walking, place and the emergence of stories and poems.
She also offers participatory writing workshops exploring how lived experience can become a starting point for memoir, poetry or fiction. Sessions combine practical exercises, discussion and opportunities to share, drawing on her own creative process.
Carran welcomes enquiries from libraries, writing groups, book groups, literary societies, older people’s organisations and arts or community venues. The format and length can be agreed with the host to suit the group.
