1878 to 1956, first Egyptian, then British rule. Much achieved but what now. My relatives worked there from 1908 to 1934 and 1945 to 1956, so personal flavour on a tough century for the country.

Joined the Army 1968. Retired as a Lt Col RE, 1995. Awarded MBE for service in the Falklands. Served at NATO and multi national HQs. Staff College in USA. CO 3 Regt RE. Spoken to audiences all over the world. Experienced Arabist and will talk on aspects of the Middle East from experience as worked throughout ME since 1995. Ready to speak on a wide range of history, but notably Napoleonics, fighting sail, middle ages, WW1, minefields and castles.
