About Fiona Arscott-Smith

Fiona is married with two grown-up sons and a granddaughter. After leaving a stressful full-time job in Children’s Services, which had taken a toll on her mental health, Fiona decided to train as a celebrant.

Already qualified as a local preacher, this new path allowed her to write and perform a wider variety of scripts and ceremonies. Being self-employed gave her the freedom to care for herself, volunteer, and pursue hobbies like genealogy and history at a higher level.

Fiona has helped people find lost living relatives and guided friends on their own historical journeys. She encourages them to see their ancestors as more than just names and dates, bringing their stories to life and recording them for future generations.

Passionate about teaching the younger generation about their histories, Fiona began crafting stories that delve into her ancestors’ lives, their jobs, the areas they lived in, and the broader historical context of their times.

Fiona has always loved unicorns and fairies. She took a masterclass in being a festival celebrant and studied how fairies can aid mental health.

Her interest in different traditions and cultures has enriched her ability to create personal and bespoke ceremonies for various occasions.

My life in 5 words: Family, Faith, Ceremonies, History, Unicorns (and fairies).
