Tropical rainforests are the most biologically diverse and complex habitats on the planet. In this talk, David will outline the main ecological processes that keep the forests functioning, and he will describe the current threats that surround their long-term survival.
Views: 125 | Enquiries: 0David works at the Natural History Museum in London, and lectures at Imperial College. He is an entomologist specialising in rainforest insects and soil ecology. He has done fieldwork in 18 countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Gabon, Madagascar and French Guiana. He has published more than 50 research articles in scientific books and journals.
David is a multi-award-winning public speaker, and frequent after-dinner speaker. He has won the annual Toastmasters’ UK & Ireland Impromptu Speech championship five times. He also did stand-up comedy for five years, where he learnt to be a funny and engaging speaking.
David has developed four fascinating and humorous talks for general audiences, based on his research. All have proved very popular. He is often invited back every year until he has presented all four. David can also deliver all these talks online via Zoom.
