Back-to-the-Future

No, its nothing to do with time travelling failed sports cars! I would like to talk about Hemp, the wonder plant that could solve many of the current issues associated with climate change and plastic pollution.

I represent the Hemp Foundation (www.hempfoundation.net) a not-for-profit organisation working in the Indian Himalayan Region. The Hemp Foundation provides employment for local people (some of the worlds most impoverished) in sowing, harvesting and processing hemp plants which we use to make fabrics, hemp seed oil, protein powder and other hemp based products.

In this talk we'll discuss the work of the Hemp Foundation and have an opportunity to handle the fabrics and some other products.

About John Scott

I represent the Hemp Foundation which is a not-for-profit organisation based in the Indian Himalayan Region of Uttarakhand. We provide employment, education and hope to some of the world's poorest people through growing hemp which we use to make textiles and other interesting things.

The Hemp Foundation sells the hemp harvested in the mountains to our retail outlet (Ukhi) which in turn sells the items with profit being returned to the Hemp Foundation to continue the work in the mountains.

The talks I would like to give tell the story of the Hemp Foundation and its works and present some of the materials that we make from the hemp (fabrics etc) in a bid to spread the word about this little known charity and the benefits of changing from man-made and unsustainable materials to hemp derived alternatives.

Attendees will be able to see and feel the quality of hemp fabrics and other hemp derived products during the talks. For further reading please see www.hempfoundation.net
